Jordan argued the reality behind a proposed Joshua versus Fury fight is far different from the public statements being made before expanding on why he believes the event is already operating outside the normal promotional structure.
“With due respect, the reasons why there’s money enough to do this first and foremost, as we both know, as we’ve discussed repeatedly, both Tyson and Joshua have slightly different deals with their promoters than other fighters have because they’re not part of the stable of broadcasting obligations,” said Simon to talkSport Boxing.
“So when Tyson Fury does a deal, he doesn’t have to perform necessarily on the broadcaster that Frank Warren is signed to, or Eddie Hearn is signed to.
“Where’s this fight happening? Netflix, right?
“So with due respect, and I don’t mean this to be disrespectful to either Frank or Eddie, neither one of them are promoting it.
“This is a deal that’s been done with Netflix, ultimately with some Turki Alalshikh money, which is why Dana is putting his two pence in the ring.
“But Eddie promotes AJ, and Frank promotes Tyson, so they have to be involved.”
Jordan then suggested White’s connection to Turki Alalshikh is the reason the UFC boss keeps publicly discussing the fight.
“Dana’s daddy is going to promote it, which is Turki Alalshikh,” said Simon.
Both Joshua and Fury are expected to return to the ring before a planned showdown later this year, with Joshua scheduled to fight on July 25 and Fury also discussing a comeback bout.
